Program Description
Teaching Grammar, Usage, and Mechanics Grade 7 is a full year, standards-aligned program, featuring 56 twice-per-week direct instruction lessons with plenty of practice. Simply display and teach the teacher’s guide lesson while your students complete their printed student lesson. No grammatical expertise required!
Each lesson includes both a mechanics and grammar/usage focus with concise explanations, examples, guided practice, and sentence dictations to determine mastery. The grammar and usage lessons also feature simple fill-in-the-blank sentence diagrams, mentor texts, and writing applications. Students take biweekly unit tests after completing 4 lessons.
Plus, the program provides diagnostic assessments to identify any remedial practice your students need to catch up while they keep up with grade-level standards. The 77 GUM Worksheets correspond to each assessment item with concentrated practice and a formative assessment.
